Mutual Perception of Teachers of Different Ethnicity According to Social Content in Teachings

Abstract

The research conducted on a sample of 301 respondents of Serbian, Croatian and Bosniak nationality aimed at determining the attitudes and influence of teachers of different ethnicity in the realization of social content in teaching of the subject Nature and Society. The method of theoretical analysis, the comparative method and the analytical-descriptive method were applied, while the complex and sensitive structure of the research required the application of various research techniques and related instruments. The results obtained by the study show that the ethnicity of the teacher does not affect the realization of the social content in teaching Nature and Society. The results also found that the teachers, members of the examined entity, statistically, significantly differ in the attitudes and manner of realization of social content in teaching Nature and Society. The results point to the fact that teachers of Croatian ethnicity statistically have a more positive attitude towards the content in teaching Nature and Society than teachers of Serbian and Bosniak ethnicity. The final discussions examine the theoretical and practical consequences of the obtained results. It can be concluded that the results gained by this research, in practical terms, improve the issues of the teaching methodology of Nature and Society, and enrich the corpus of methodology in classroom teaching, and in theoretical sense contribute to the clarification of important relations and relationships on the educational outcomes plan in the regions that are covered by this research. It is suggested that the possible solution lies in non-conflict education, greater mutual communication and communication with the world in general.
