Metro rail construction involves diversions, congestions and incidents occurring on the roads increasing travel time of road users. Delay occurring between consecutive nodes depends upon recurrent (e.g., congestion in peak hours) and non-recurrent (road incidents) delay factors. This research paper presents a study of identifying, quantifying and analyzing the non-recurring delay factors (NRDFs) for a part of Pune Metro Rail Construction (Corridor II) work. Depending upon the traffic behavioral pattern, five non-recurring delay factors (NRDFs) are defined viz. vehicles in lateral entry, slow moving vehicles, vehicles in wrong direction, on-street parked vehicles and pedestrian interference. Observations were recorded in spatial and temporal zones using floating car method. These NRDFs were quantified and its correlation with speed of vehicle and extent of construction work zone were tested using Spearman’s rank coefficient. It was observed that these NRDFs occur significantly in construction work zone where the road width us occupied for construction activities.
